The world in a box

"You have to see this", my friend told me. "It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen". She had found this heavy carved pine box which she didn't have they key for. "What a shame", she regreted. "If only we could open it, it would be the most astonishing sight". Perhaps a little too mucho so, I thought.

She claimed it could show you the whole world through its keyhole. Everytime she neared her right eye as to try and see the inside of the box, she could see places she had only dreamed of seeing. So she said.

"Try it", she urged me. "You won't believe it!". So I leaned in, a little skeptical, and suddenly unbelievably clear flashes of my friend were shot directly to my brain. Like a slide projection, they kept changing, only not only I could see them neatly, but feel them as if I was right there in those scenes, hearing her. I could smell the wet green grass in her yard while she was watering it. It felt like she was riding that bike towards me, into me.

"What do you see? Morocco? China? Is it Brazil? Can you see Sydney?". I didn't answer, I was speechless. "Can you? Can you see the whole world?".

"Yes", I finally spoke. "It's the whole world". I moved away from the box in time to catch her smile.

"Isn't it beautiful?", she wanted to know.

"Incredibly beautiful".
